Young Adult Carers Programme

Who cares? We do!

We have a programme of support for Young Adult Carers, co-designed with young people.

Am I a Young Adult Carer (YAC)?

  • YACs are young adults under the age of 25
  • They look after one or more people in the home because of a long term illness or disability, learning difficulty, mental ill health or an addiction to drugs or alcohol
  • YACs have additional responsibilities and caring tasks beyond those of their peers – such as supervising younger siblings, managing household chores, supporting with leaving the house and/or attending appointments or being an emotional support and listening ear
  • Remember, every YAC is different so not all caring roles look the same!

If you’re a YAC, we’re here for you:

  • Opportunity to meet and socialise with likeminded young people, with similar experiences
  • Access to resources, practical advice and signposting
  • Wellbeing support
  • Open to those living and/or studying in Winchester

If you would like more information or to sign-up to the Young Adult Carers Programme all you need to do is give us a few details below.

We usually reply within 5-10 working days. If you’re not sure if you’re a young adult carer or eligible please still submit for an informal chat.
